Guild

I really like the American made Guild electrics. My favorites are the ones made in Hoboken, New Jersey and Westerly, Rhode Island.  The Corona, California Fender owned Guilds are good also, but not as good as the guitars made prior to the Fender take over.  All of the USA made Guilds guitars are consistently well made and just feel and sound good.  These guitars are definitely under appreciated.  I especially like their jazz (X series) archtop guitars.  These guitars are a great value, especially when compared to Gibson or a boutique USA guitar maker.  Often times you will even find an American made Guild in the same price range as an Eastman.  While Eastmans are fine guitars, they are made in China.  The American made Guild archtops are better.  Guild also has the Starfire series.  These are similar to the Gibson thinlines such as the ES135 and E335.  The older Guild electrics had Guild pickups which I thought were really nice.  The newer Guild have Seymour Duncan’s which are a bit hotter than the Guild pickups.  The Seymour Duncans are really nice as well.  Most Guild electrics are now made overseas.  I have not had the opportunity to play one so I do not know how the compare, but they are substantially cheaper.
